Most locks can be rekeyed, but it is not possible to rekey every type of lock. Some types of locks, such as certain types of high-security locks, cannot be rekeyed because they do not have interchangeable cores.

In general, however, most residential and commercial locks can be rekeyed. This includes deadbolts, doorknobs, and lever handles.
